Alex Price’s paintings negotiate structure and instability through restrained brushwork and a limited palette. Straddling the calligraphic and sculptural, organic and architectural, his compositions generate friction between the substance of a brushstroke and the impulse to discern what it might be or become. Animated by this tension, the works present an evolving enquiry into the material, perceptual, and psychological mechanics of painting.
